idiot-proof your life.

i remembered today that we forget to look upwards too often ... but when i did, the city of blinding lights drowned out the field of stars above ... and all i could do ... was look down again.

the experience prob doesnt mean as much to them as it does to me ... but honours year was different. and i was able to print 'hello world' without learning programming. it's not often when you get to see excellence in progress. and then you realise fully what you can and cannot do.

freakanomics authors had a field day recently with the concept of happiness and lvl of gdp. guess what? positive correlation between them! yet, interestingly, love happens regardless of lvl of gdp as compared to feelings of sadness, satisfaction and happiness (which all showed either +ve or -ve r/s with lvl of gdp). somewhere, Someone got it right.

science and medicine, while saving lives, is upsetting the 'free market' of lives. it could very well be affecting our ability as humans to evolve to the next level, what with crappy dna floating around. by the theory of genetic generations, it just requires one flaw to pollute pretty much the whole system. with multiple flaws ... well, we're seeing that story unfurl before our lives when smart people act stupid and stupid people act smart.

figures the more we play this whole tech game, the more we need Someone to pull us out of this mess. for it is not the strong who needs tech advancements, it is the weak. and once enabled, they will never realise that they are just adding to that pool of poor actg combination proteins and ruining it all for everyone else.

smart as we are, take away our tools and we are but fodder and prey to God's creation.

people don't exercise these days cos rest is over-rated. they ought to be taught the law of diminishing marginal returns.

some friends just fall out. a change in ideals ... a shift in paradigm. or just a lack of convenience. it's good ... there's a reason why some people will never achieve what they ever wanted in the first place.

optimise time ... time to optimise returns.

air guitars is nothing next to usb guitars, which is nothing next to a real guitar. just learnt a riff. it's been too long ... finger calluses to come.

starting to love music ... donald miller is right. sometimes, you just gotta learn how to love by seeing how someone else is doing it. we are creatures of mimicry, amongst other things. maybe someday, i change u-sic to one-y. that's one way to throw love out of the window.

so many things, so little time. for the first time, urgency has become my everyday life ... and for a long time to come.

started some new processes - writing callously, carelessly and care-lessly. with a new section too! time to figure some things out ... like why no one tried making a nice sounding acoustic guitar made of metal/plastic/american hickory.
